TARGET AUDIENCE: Registered voters in Tuscarawas county who have an interest in supporting the Initiative Petition (Ohio Dog Auctions Act) to ban dog auctions and raffles in Ohio.

UPDATE! It is with deep regret that we were forced to cancel our meeting with Senator Joe Schiavoni scheduled for Friday, April 30.  A rescheduled meeting is tentatively scheduled for mid-June pending the Senator's availability in Tuscarawas county.

Despite a growing level of support and publicity for our state-wide ballot initiative campaign from residents within Holmes and surrounding counties, representatives from the Country Club Retirement Campus expressed concerns for the safety of their residents by those in opposition to the Ohio Dog Auctions Act should they extend an opportunity for the Coalition to hold a second informational meeting with the Senator on their private property.

Because of this, we are more committed than ever to raising awareness of the animal cruelty, consumer fraud and corruption associated with the Ohio Dog Auctions, and we will continue to aggressively pursue all avenues to ensure passage of the Ohio Dog Auctions Act!

We have received confirmation that the Western Reserve Kennel Club will be hosting a meeting with special guest Senator Timothy Grendell (R-18).

As many of you may recall, Senator Grendell was our guest during the January 25, 2010 Geauga County – Coalition Meeting on the Ohio Dog Auctions Act attended by over 50 interested parties. As part of this event, Senator Grendell expressed during a live interview with Fox 8 Cleveland his strong support for our 2011 ballot campaign and adoption of legislation modeled after PA’s Statute 459-603, which bans public dog auctions in the Commonwealth.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Registered voters in Holmes county who have an interest in supporting the Initiative Petition (Ohio Dog Auctions Act) to ban dog auctions and raffles in Ohio.

UPDATE! It is with deep regret that we were forced to cancel our Holmes County - Coalition Meeting on the Ohio Dog Auctions Act scheduled for Saturday, April 17.

Our efforts to reschedule this meeting from its original date of March 27, has been met with a tremendous amount of resistance from business owners who have expressed concern of "backlash" from members of the Ohio Professional Dog Breeders Association and Ohio Association of Animal Owners, both groups who oppose the Ohio Dog Auctions Act.

(For a fair and balanced reporting of what took place during the canceled March 27 meeting, we invite you to read the article, Ban Ohio Dog Auction group met with opposition in Holmes county, published by Local Editor, Beverly Keller, of The Budget.)

Despite a growing level of support and publicity for our state-wide ballot initiative campaign from residents within Holmes and surrounding counties, many of these business owners have expressed concerns they will be threatened and harassed should they extend an opportunity for the Coalition to hold an informational meeting on their private property.

Because of this, we are more committed than ever to raising awareness of the animal cruelty, consumer fraud and corruption associated with the Ohio Dog Auctions, and we will continue to aggressively pursue all avenues to ensure passage of the Ohio Dog Auctions Act!

Rally in the Alley is a great Medina County series of events and draws quite a large crowd...from more than just Medina County.  Coalition supporter, Vanessa Fields, has attended these concerts in the past and collected just this past Friday, May 28; this was a signature gathering bonanza!  Signature gatherers can easily walk around on all the public sidewalks that surround the Rally and there are public parking lots in very close proximity.

Medina Public Square is on the eastern side of the Rally where people sit and rest.  There are lots of places to collect signatures all around the Rally all while enjoying the concert.  The restaurants on the square are quite busy and a great place to gather since their doors open onto the public sidewalks.
